I have an ever growing list of over 170 area references: A number of those folks have repeated the buying and selling process with me; 18 families have each done two transactions, five families have each done three transactions, three families have each done four transactions, four families have each done five transactions, and one has done eight transactions … so far!

I have also done business with three generations of two different families. I am especially proud of the fact that over my forty year in real estate service nine different families of former Realtors have called upon me to help them buy or sell property. I don’t think any other local Realtors can make a claim like that.

Yes, I have been around a while. However, and I paraphrase what Ronal Reagan said about Walter Mondale in a 1984 presidential debate… “I will not make age an issue in selling real estate. I am not going to exploit, in competing for buyers and sellers, my competitors youth and inexperience.”

Education

Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI): A North Dakota Association of Realtors accredited basic training program.

Certified Residential Specialist (CRS): Advanced training designation earned by only about 5% of all Realtors in the country!

Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR): Intensive course work in buyer representation with a designation that is earned by only about 3% of all Realtors in the country.

University of North Dakota: B.A. Education, 1972; B.S. Psychology, 1974; Subsequent college course work in Principles of Real Estate, Real Estate Law, and Real Estate Finance.

Professional Affiliations

Grand Forks Board of Realtors: Board of Realtors President, 1994-95, plus years of continuing service in four positions on the Board of Directors, two chairmanships and eight subcommittees.

Personal Qualities

Seasoned experience: I earned my real estate license on June 2, 1978. Over the years I have sold millions of dollars of real estate.

Teacher: Taught many real estate seminars to help consumers understand the selling and buying processes. (Prior to real estate I was a school teacher where I learned patience!)

Practical Knowledge: In my younger days I acquired several years of hands on home construction carpentry experience. This serves me well when understanding the bones of a home are a factor in selling a home. Jan, my wife, and I are home owners and small apartment investors.

Life Long Learning Commitment: Usually at least 9-15 hours of on-going professional training every year for the last forty years.

Peer Recognition: Honored by my peers as the local Grand Forks Realtor of the Year in 1995 for professional dedication. Also, I feel privileged to say that over the years I have worked for nine different families of former Realtors who have entrusted their real estate business to me – more than any other agent in GF I am pretty sure.

MY LIFE OUTSIDE OF REAL ESTATE

I enjoy spending time with my wife Jan, a retired second grade school teacher who runs the computer for our business and does a great job putting together the videos for my listings. 

We are antique buffs who enjoy preserving old things. We are hooked on fishing for walleyes, mostly at Cass Lake, MN, where I dream of retiring some day and becoming a fishing guide! We dig garden- ing and landscaping in our ½ acre yard in NW Grand Forks - I am up to nine different kinds of fruit. 

I get a blast out of hunting pheasants with our Small Munsterlander, Fannie. I enjoy a good game of chess. For many years I have collected Mickey Mouse stuff, old marbles, and old fishing lures. For the last fifty plus years I have been dead serious about collecting comedy related material be it; joke books (hundreds), vinyl (I have over seven hundred-sixty comedy albums), CDs, DVDs, and even knickknacks.
