Please consider this as my job application to help you buy a home in my hometown of Grand Forks, ND.
Over the last 44 years I have sold millions of dollars of real estate. Having negotiated hundreds of contracts I bring to bear a lot of experience in representing and helping buyer-clients get the home of their dreams.
I have an ever growing list of over 190 area references of whom I have been able to track: A number of those folks have repeated the buying and/or selling process with me from 2 - 8 times; 19 families have each done two transactions, 5 families have each done three transactions, 3 families have each done four transactions, 4 families have each done five transactions, and one has even done eight transactions … so far! I have also done business with 3 generations of two different families.
I am especially proud of the fact that, over my 44 years in real estate service, 9 different families of former Realtors have called upon me, and entrusted me, to help them buy or sell homes. I don’t think any other local Realtors can make a claim like that.
I have a running list of “Testimonials” from satisfied buyers and sellers. Along with my reference list it is available upon request.
I earned my North Dakota real estate license on June 2, 1978. So yes, I have been around a while. However, and I paraphrase what Ronald Reagan said about Walter Mondale in a 1984 presidential debate … 'I will not make age an issue in selling real estate. I am not going to exploit, in competing for buyers and sellers, my competitors youth and inexperience.'!
I take my business seriously: So for my buyer-clients I keep an on-going log of my experiences in real estate over the last 44 years. I call it "My Home Evaluation Q&A". It is my running journal of over 850 questions and answers to help raise your confidence and faith in working with me, if you want to buy a home in Grand Forks, ND or East Grand Forks, MN. I use it as a continuously updated guide to help me focus on giving my buyer-clients the best possible awareness of the process in buying their dream home.
I am a graduate of the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI). That is a North Dakota Association of Realtors accredited basic training program. I have gotten a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) certificate which is an advanced training certificate earned by only about 5% of all Realtors in the country! I also have gotten an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) certificate for intensive course work in buyer representation that is earned by only about 3% of all Realtors in the country. I graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.A. in Education, 1972; and a B.S. in Psychology, 1974. Subsequently I took college course work in Principles of Real Estate, Real Estate Law, and Real Estate Finance.
Professionally I am affiliated with the Grand Forks Board of Realtors. I was our local Board of Realtors President in 1994-95. Plus I have had years of professional service in 4 positions on our Board of Directors, including 2 chairmanships and on 8 subcommittees. I also hold memberships in the North Dakota Association of Realtors (NDAR) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR).
My peers honored me as the local Grand Forks Realtor of the Year in 1995 for professional dedication.
Every year I continue to take 9-15 hours of on-going professional training as I have done for the last 44 years.
As a Grand Forks native, I am confident I know the territory as “Your Hometown Real Estate Agent Since 1978”. I can offer insights into the community, streets and neighborhoods in helping buyer-clients pick the right location for their dream home.
Community is important to me and about 10 years ago or so I started the first Next Door neighborhood group in Grand Forks for my neighborhood in the northwest part of town. Today I believe there are about 10.
I have taught many real estate seminars to help consumers understand the buying and selling process. (Prior to real estate I was a school teacher where I learned patience!)
In my younger days, when I was trying to break into real estate, I acquired several years of hands-on home construction carpentry experience. This gives me immense practical knowledge in understanding the bones of a home. That understanding has served me well in helping buyers see prospective homes with their eyes wide open.
Jan, my wife, and I are home owners and small apartment investors. I have a good grasp of cash flow analysis in rental rental property and can be of assistance in that regard.
Outside of real estate I enjoy spending time with Jan, a retired second grade school teacher. We enjoy traveling, usually by car, to see family across the county when we can. (Jan helps with the books and some of the computer side of my business. Specifically, she does a great job putting together the video tours for my listings.)
We are antique buffs who enjoy preserving old things in our home. We are hooked on fishing for walleyes, mostly at Cass Lake, MN and Devils Lake, ND. I dream of retiring to the former some day and becoming a fishing guide! We dig gardening and landscaping on our ½ acre yard in NW Grand Forks. I am up to 9 different kinds of fruiting trees and bushes as of September, 2022 - my goal is 10. I enjoy hunting pheasants with our second Small Munsterlander, George. I enjoy a good game of chess.
For the last 50 plus years I have been dead serious about collecting comedy related material be it; joke books (hundreds), vinyl comedy albums (over 750), and standup comedy DVDs, and other funny knickknacks. I enjoy creating goofy videos and gifs for my friends on Facebook. I do more of the same on Twitter @WellLetsGoJerry using the hashtags; #WaletzkoHaveFun, #JerrysHumor, #HumorInGrandForksND and #Humor. Have you heard a good joke lately? Send it to jerry@grandforkshomes.net and if we do some business together, I will pay for your closing related county recording fees!
